Great Outdoor Games: "What is that at the end of his barrel?"

While watching the Great Outdoor Games rifle competition, I couldn't figure out what was on the end of Doug Koenig's 10/22? It looked like a silver "can," about the size and shape of an oil filter. The winner, Jerry Miculek (sp?), his 10/22 looked rather stock compared to the others' equipment.

PS--any idea what power optics were in use?

i think it was just a gost ring????jerrys gun did look stock in comparison.im sure it was tricked out somewhat but its nice to see

Definitely not a ghost ring! It looked like a large compensator or even (but not) a suppressor at the end of the barrel.

It was a take off of the BOSS system by Browning. That is a weight that can move back and forth to stabilize the harmonics in the barrel, thus theoretically eliminating the need for a BULL barrel. But with the apparent size of the attatchment in this case, it would seem that weight was not a consideration???

NEW!! JP Harmonic Stabilizer: allows you to tune the harmonics of your barrel for pea accuracy. Available with our recoil eliminator or as just the stabilizer with a thread adapter for use o pre-ban 1/2x28 threaded AR-15 standard contour barrels. This technology has been well proven on sporting type rifles in recent years:
