I received this morning a hardbound version of the just-released Field & Stream’s “The Total Gun Manual.” It’s written by Dave Petzal and Phil Bourjaily of the TV show, "The Gun Nuts." Great, fun book. The hardback cover is nicely embossed with lots of detail and looks like it will take many years’ worth of handling. Lots of great color photos, schematics/diagrams and analogies. While there may be some posters who already know everything in the book, it’s likely that it is a fairly small number. Regardless, it’s just a whole lot of fun to look through. I suspect that most buyers will read every word.
As you’d expect from the authors, the focus is heavily on rifles, shotguns, ammo and hunting, but there is advice and information that applies well to handguns, too. That said, a handguns-only shooter who has no interest in long guns or hunting (are there any?) might want to give it a pass and ask the library to get one. The bar code label says $39.95 for hardcover, but it is $26.37 with free shipping at Amazon. Soft-cover is about $10 less.
Should have bought two - one for my easy chair and one for the throne.
