Just thought I would share a day at the range recently.
Went to an indoor range near me to meet a friend who is really into handguns, well he owns a few of them. I brought my only gun, my H&K .40C and about 200 rounds of ammo. My buddy brought his Beretta 9mm, Desert Eagle .44 Magnum with scope, 357 with laser, H&K USP 45, and Kimber 45.
I shot my H&K, didn't do that bad, I haven't shot it enough to master the accuracy. By the end of the day I was doing alright, small enough clusters that I was happy with. Afterwords I purchased a Hogue grip, since my hand was getting very sweaty holding my gun, hopefully this will help the next time I go. My buddy added a Hogue grip to his Glock 9mm and said it improved his accuracy tremdously, he didn't bring that gun though
So now it was time for me to try some of his handguns. Of course I tried the Desert Eagle first.
Desert Eagle .44 Magnum:
I was shocked at how big it was, but also shocked at how light it was, apparently it is an alloy frame. Here is another amazing thing, I was extremely accurate with it, he put a red-dot scope on it and boy did it work well. The recoil wasn't bad either. Then my buddy loaded some hunting rounds, I fired a few of those off, the whole range shook, it was unreal. So to say the least I was impressed with the Desert Eagle.
H&K USP 45 Full Size:
Since I own an H&K I knew it would shoot well, and sure enough it did. It actually seemed to have less recoil then my .40C. Very smooth and accurate.
Beretta 9mm:
I had never shot a Beretta before. I was amazed on how smooth it was and again very accurate. Hardly any recoil, although I am comparing it to my H&K .40C. I always thought Beretta's were suppose to be heavy, this was not the case, had a blast shooting this gun.
357 with Laser sighting:
I am not sure what make the 357 was, it was a revolver. I really did not like the laser sighting, I am so use to looking through normal sights, which this did not have, it was really weird counting on the laser being the sighting mechanism, didn't trust it at all. I am sure if I had the usual sights and the laser things would be much different.
Kimber 45:
Not bad at all, the Kimber 45 is the only Kimber I have ever fired, as far as Kimber goes. Compared to the H&K, it comes close, but not close enough. The Kimber is heavier.
So there you go, that is my "range report". Had a great day. Now I just need get a Desert Eagle, yeah right
