grease or oil

Im thinking of switching from grease to oil because it just seems that rim oil and clp just dont last. would you guys recommend a good grease to use please.

Both: grease should go on parts that slide; oil other areas. Lightly.

All oil will eventually leach out of a firearm. Grease less so, but some things really need oil, not grease.

There's three greases I used in guns: Two of them are Lubriplate: 105 (general white lithium grease), Lubriplate 103-A ("Rifle grease" for Garands, M1-A's, etc) and commercial moly NLGI #2 grease for applications where I'm looking to get the most lubrication from the least grease.

That statement has always confused me...at the Macro/microscopic level, all friction points seem to be, "slide". That is, metal sliding against metal.

For the outside wipe down use a sheep skin that has RIG worked into the wool.

It will leave a very thin film of RIG on the surface of the metal protecting it.
