Grandma's 357 took a stand!

I wonder if it was just a gut reaction to do what she sis, or if she actually had to 'get up the nerve' and think about it?
I really hope the grand jury decides it was a justifiable act of self defense/ defense of others and drops the case.
How would the Castle doctrine apply in a situation like this?

Wow!! Overall it's a wonderful story! The description of her shooting ability is a little terrifying though! The second round going off is the truly scary part of that.

Thankfully everyone, except the bad guy, is ok.

Goes to show us all....Just because your elderly does not mean you cant defend your self.Good for the elderly woman dispatching that thug....Hopefully the criminals read and learn from this....Crime does not pay.

i couldn't agree more...

good for granny! that guy got what he deserved - anytime you go busting in on someone, waving a gun in their faces, yes.. you DO deserve to get shot! the sooner the bad guys realize that, the better off the rest of us will be. they need to realize that anytime they decide to turn to crime, they run the risk of getting just what they deserve. amazing shot - center mass - with a .357. i'm just sorry she had to go through that drama.

I used to live in that complex and kept a .45 on the nightstand. Not that it was all that bad 20 years ago.

That part of town cannot decide what it wants to be. Nice or hood. Keeps going back and forth.

Last time I was there it must have been in a "hood" stage. I think that hotel is really bad....plus it shares a lot with a Waffle House and a strip club. It's bad enough that I wouldn't leave a door cracked or kids unsupervised

I read about this earlier today and can only repeat what others have said.....way to go Great Granny

She is quite a woman and God bless her. Exactly what the bad guys need to understand, they can't get away with that ****

Sounds like granny did just fine!

He still wasn't sure what had happened when he went outside and saw the intruder's body in the parking lot. Then he heard a second shot. His mother, the gun at her side, had tensed up and "squeezed off another shot into the floor," he said.

Perhaps her son could get with her and teach her safe gun handling skills. Better yet, use that money he was going to hand over to the thief towards some lessons from someone sho's trained to do it. It'd be sad for her to save the day, and then accidently kill one of her family as well. I can't even imagine the tension she must have felt at that point, but the things you practice usually stay with you.

Keep your finger off that trigger 'till yer ready to shoot. ;)

It does indeed sound like God was with them all, and I'm sure glad it all turned out well.

I was at the Quarter Horse Congress today. There were people talking about Granny everywhere. 99% positive except the one comment I overheard about how she was more likely to kill family than a criminal.

Go Granny!!!!

Well, That Southern Ohio Attitude...

Saw this lady through her having to defend her family against thugs, I myself applaud her!

We lived over there (actually up in an apartment complex at I-71 & I-270 near the brewery back in the late 80's, and I always felt fairly safe up around there, down nearer town, not so much. It's sad to hear it's went to hell there, when we lived there the Continent was a nice place.

I'd say in my understanding of Ohio's castle doctrine law, she was within the scope of the law. Her son owes her whatever she wants for defending him and the family, he better treasure that lady! If Franklin County sees fit to charge her, they need to prosecute them instead of her.

Way to go, I'm proud of her!

God bless and keep her safe. She did what needed to be done and did it well.

No one in their right mind wants to kill another human being. Granny is no exception. Her family, however, need to help her focus on the right things. Forget what this street thug's dreams or ambitions were. Remember that he put the lives of her family in grave danger and she stopped him in an appropriate way. It was his actions that forced granny to defend her family. It was his decision to be a thief, robber and threat to others. He decided the risks were worth the rewards and this time he lost.

Someone tell granny that her swift action may have saved another family from losing a loved one. Or it may have saved some woman from a robbery and rape.

And someone by that woman a marksmanship medal!
