Gps Tracking System

Ive just heard on the local news Gov.Graholm in Mi is going to make it so that sex offenders are tracked at all times by a gps system, for life. Now not being a sex offender I dont care, but it does seem a little bit wrong. It just seems closer to everybody having to be tracked 24/7.I know its been being done with pets and i think parents can get them for children as well.So how do you all think it will be until its mandatory for everyone.

Its not being done on pets. The chips you hear about are just to be read by a gizmo that the animal shelters have (Unless it is something that just came out a day ago).

The next problem is that MOST GPS devices CAN NOT send any signal back. All most GPS devices are is a radio (it picks up the signal but even the satellite does not know if or where the GPS device is).

For that plan to work the GPS device would need to have a land based tower to send a signal to, and I can see that being easy to jam if need be.

WI just passed a GPS system for "serious" sex-offenders as well. I'm not worried about GPS mandated for everyone - hell, they're on us already. Cell phones, cars w/ OnStar, trucks, etc. already have them. Many, many employers use then to track shipments, calculate down time, drive time and track employees during working hours.
