GP100 vs Bisley vaquero in .357

Yes, at least as long as the number of "monster loads" isn't TOO heavy in the GP100's diet. Shoot several thousand of 'em and you *might* loosen it up, but nobody does that.

The Bisley will be more comfortable to shoot monster loads with. And since the gun was designed for .44Mag power levels, I doubt you CAN break one with .357s short of a double-charge of fast powder or some similar reloading screwup :). Remember, the Bisley in .357 is noticably heavier than the big-bore versions, because there's more metal in the cylinder and barrel.

The GP's advantage is that it's a good "street defense combat gun" that can still be pressed into "wilderness survival roles" with heavy loads, unless you're up against Griz.

If your prime mission is outdoor carry/survival, you'll be better off with the Bisley in .44Mag or .45LC, assuming you're willing to take the time to master the SA. The Bisley in .357 is almost like putting too small an outboard motor on your boat, the platform can do so much more :).

180gr bullets

just wanted to know if the gp will stand up to the use of 180gr bullets. really wanted a back up defense pistol/revolver/backup for hog hunting/cheap-plinkin with .38/ fun/ seriouse gun.the bisley looks so pretty in blue and then there is the ss gp100 4". the gp would do the trick but the bisley would be better for the power stuff. was just asking if anybody knew the strongest loads the gp would take. and there opinion of the two.

REPHRASE

Cor-Bon and I use 4" GP for ammo testing.

That satisfy?

(I have a marvelous 180g deer load for my GP's; 1160fps.)

Both fine; buy what YOU like.
