GP100 new springs/Hi Viz

I took my GP100 out today for the first time since I changed the mainspring and the trigger spring. I went down two pounds on each. I shot over 50 rds with no light strikes or other issues. I shot some from a box of 130 grain .38s and some of the 158 grain 38s. I also changed my front sight to the red hi viz fiber optic sights. I love these things, if you have not done this yet, you need to get busy. I promise you its a thousand times better than the stock sight. I had to do no adjustments to the rear sight either. I am perfectly satisfied now with these changes and the polish job done previously, this gun ain't going anywhere. I have several Smiths and two Pythons. While the action is not close to the Pythons it is every bit as good as the Smiths. And I while I have shot groups just as tight with the Pythons, I have yet to shoot such a group with the Smiths. I like them all but I would sell all the Smiths and keep the Pythons and the GP100 if I had to choose.
Anyway I shot this group today from 21' no rest and it is a 3" bullseye. I am not a great shot by any means but this is my best from the GP100 so far.

The only light strike issues I've had with any of mine are with CCI primers. Probably the same wolf spring kit you have. That issue with the light strikes did cause me to change back to full power on my 3 inch, it's a carry gun.

Thats great news on the results of your modifications. The GP100 responds well to trigger work. I did the same to the one I used to own. The action improved quite a bit. I still would not put the GP100 in the S&W class espically a model 19 that has been fined tune but the GP comes close.

Howard

They do respond well. They are also very easy to disassemble and work on. No side plates to remove or screws to bugger up. It is very nice now. :D

Dan, it wasn't on the gun at the time of the picture. But it sure makes a big difference on the gun. If you have a GP100 you need to add the Hi Viz.

I know, I was just busting your chops. I totally agree with you that they are a definite must upgrade. I have them on my 6" GP, and had them on my 4" as well until I went with Meprolight night sights on the 4".

I did the Hi Viz sights, a trigger job, and Houge Pau Ferro grips, and now my GP100 shoots the best of any revolver I've tried. In particular, the grips really suit me and enable me to shoot the revolver well using double action.
