GP100 ironwood grip panel

This is my first attempt at carving grip panels for my GP100. The wood was sold as "Ironwood" from Africa. I know that this term covers a lot of different woods. This is very dense and the saw dust resembles talc. It was embedded so tightly in the fibers of my tee shirt that it now has a red stain covering the front. "Wear a Mask!"

I haven't found the ferrules or bolt yet, I'm thinking perhaps brass.
I am also thinking of trying my hand at Cocobolo or Bocote.
What say you?

Very nice...

Brownell's and Midway both sell escutcheons, but 'on the cheap' I use bright brass hex nut, washer and screw from the hardware store...
