GP100 grip question

They will work. You should be aware that there were two sizes of the rubber grips with the inserts made for the GP100.

The smaller one uses the same inserts as the SP101 came on the GP's with fixed sight. They are not easy to find and are comanding a premium. I have seen a set sell on e bay for $100:eek:

The larger one came on the adjustable sight GP's, much easier to find and still a lot smaller than the Hogues that they come with now. Altamont sells brand new rubbers as well as inserts, but only in the larger old style grips.

The GP100 will take the Compact Grip, all models. The Compact grip will use the SP 101 inserts.
The GP100 will also take the larger flat bottom grip with the larger insert.
The same grip that fits the GP100, both sizes, will also fit the Super Red Hawks, all models.
The above grips will not fit on the SP101. Just the inserts on the SP101, and the GP100 compact grips are interchangeable.

This is a picture of my Ruger Super Redhawk Alaskan with the compact grip, and SP101 inserts.

And here is a picture of the same Alaskan with the larger grip, and the inserts from the above photo is on the SP101

If your GP100 came with the Houge grip, you will also need the grip locator pin, to be able to use the older style grip, on the new gun.

They do work. I've got a GP100 with those on it. But, you need some hardware. It takes a screw, two "ferrules" (I don't really know what those are, but that's what Midway's website calls them), and a locator pin. It's not hard to install. You just need the right pieces. I got the grip I have with no wood inserts from Midway. I had to order the hardware with it, and each piece was about 3 bucks, I think. I then order inserts off of eBay. If you go the same route I did buying the empty grip, just make sure to order the hardware, too.

GP100 grip locator pin

The latest 1s have a smaller locator pin , but can be easily remedied.

eveled has the correct description of what fits what & the compact grips for the GP are bringing rediculous prices, but make the GP alot more controlable for smaller hands the Lett panel grips are good for me when I use panels from Chig`s Grips he makes em just a tad thicker & it makes the grip more palm fillin

Letts style Fancy grips by Altamont, with Fancy Fish Scale inserts.
Looking at the Altamont Grips, I would bet they are making the grips used on the Willy Clapp GP100.

This picture shows a little of the back of the Altamont Grip. This is one of my SP101's, but they look the same.

The Altamont Grips look good, and do not feel bad in the hand either.

I bought a used set of full size Ruger grips with nice inserts and pin off Gunbroker for a very reasonable price. They fit the gun perfectly, in fact they fit better than the Hogues that came with the gun.
