GP100 and HKS speedloaders

Hi everyone. First post here but I've been reading a while. Just ordered my first handgun. After careful consideration decided on a Ruger GP-100 with 3" barrel and fixed sights. Anyway, I read somewhere that the HKS speedloaders that are advertised for the GP-100 do not actually fit due to the GP-100's grips getting in the way. Before I try and get some shipped to Guam can someone tell me if that's true?

Finding the revolver I was looking for here was tricky. One place wanted $650 for a new GP100 !!! But I found a guy who was able to get me a new one for $430 shipped which is the best I could hope for out here. Hope to get it in the next two weeks depending on the mail. I have shot firearms for work and fun before, but never owned one and have never used a revolver. For some reason I am drawn to them. Last time I shot the M9 at the range it jammed several times and my mind was made up.

I own both the 3" fixed sight gp100 (my favorite home defense gun) and a six inch adj sight model. I also own some hks speedloaders that work wonderful for the gun. the grips are designed and do except speedloader's. heres a pic of my ruger's sorry for poor quality I'm working on that.

again even though pic quality is poor. one can see the grip area near the cylinder "swing out" area is shaped to accomadate the speedloader including the hks type.

mbirds - you're very welcome. I hope you enjoy your 3 inch GP100 as much as I enjoy mine (and most folks enjoy theirs). It is a favorite of mine, for sure.

Does HKS make speedloaders specifically for the GP100 now? I know they used to advertise that their 586 and 686 speedloaders worked for the GP100 series. While that is true, I have found that they do not fit as well as they should. The Ruger cylinder is just a tad bit larger than the S&W and the HKS don't fit the Ruger as well as they fit the S&W.

Sorry for the late reply. I was traveling. The speedloaders arrived and the 586's do have the GP100 listed on the package under compatible firearms. There is a bit of play so I'm not too worried about the fit esp. after the other replies. I'm on my way to pick up the GP100-- took about a month for it to find its way to Guam. Can't wait to finally pick it up, since I had to get it sight unseen, relying on opinions here and on other sites.

EDIT: Picked up the GP-100. Beautiful!
