GP-100 Hammer Rubbing on Frame

The hammer on my GP-100 is rubbing against the frame on the left side. There is a triangle-shaped mark on the hammer where it rubs against the frame. I can feel it for the first 1/2 of the DA trigger pull -- until the hammer is out far enough that is no longer rubbing.

It's not enough to affect my shooting, it just doesn't have a smooth feel all the way through. The SA trigger pull is awesome.

Any ideas on fixing this?

I'm not really that familiar with the way the hammer fits into a Ruger, but one possibility is to use stainless steel bearings (thin washers) to move the hammer out of contact with the frame. Brownell's sells these.

The gun is stock from Ruger. I actually like the heavier DA pull.

I think it would be very smooth if I could solve this hammer rubbing problem.

hammer rub

My GP 100 and one of my SP101's had the hammer rub problem. I took a dremel tool and just lightly and in several stages opened up the side the hammer dragged on. I couldnt tell you how much metal........other than very little. If you polish of the drag marks on the hammer after each attempt you will see the improvement.
