Governor/judge and Ruger only loads

a friend of mine is getting a governor for christmas. i am wondering those things can handle some of the 45 colt loads i use in my blackhawk? anybody have any experience with this idea?

I would not reccomend it

There is a reason they are called "Ruger Only" loads. While there are other guns than can handle the abuse of these loads, I would not be willing to be experimenter with either of the guns you mentioned. These loads range from moderate to pretty wild.

While the cylinders on these guns are longer, they are still a medium frame gun in every other respect that I am aware of. Shoot standard pressure ammo. If you want a magnum class revolver, buy a gun that has a proven history of enduring the increased abuse of heavy loads. Just my two cents...

ok, hell no it is. just out of curiousity, does anyone know what pressures 410 shells run at, compared to 45 colt's 12,000-15,000ish?

corbon sells a hotter load for 45 colt that they claim is safe for the judge in small amounts. however their testing was with a micrometer... nothing else.

the problem is that theire is two frame sizes for the judge. ones a smack on model 85 snubnose stretched out and rechambered.

the other is a slightly larger thing that has no comparison to other taurus frames.

and to make it worse, ibelieve the polymer clad ones are another size frame.

;I'd say you have serious lack of empathy for your fellow man. Maybe you need to have your mental stability evaluated and your eligibility to own firearms taken into question.;)

Couple things come to find fast on this inquiry.

• They're called "Ruger only" for a reason and thinking a Taurus has the strength of a Ruger is kinda well...

• IMO, if one needs loads of this type, better off to buy a more powerful chambering from the get-go rather than push a lesser cartridge past it's SAAMI specs.
