Governor Daniels to Declare Restoration of Gun Rights in Indiana! Thursday, September 21, 2006

On Friday, September 22, please join Governor Mitch Daniels (R), and NRA President Sandy Froman at the Dearborn County Fair Grounds!

Governor Daniels will be announcing changes made to Indiana law by Executive Order to restore gun rights in state parks and public lands as an example to other governors of what can be done through executive power to reestablish the rights of law-abiding gun owners. Food and drink will be provided free of charge.

The event starts at 6:30 p.m. at Dearnborn County Fair Grounds in Lawrenceburg, in Southeastern Indiana, close to the Ohio and Kentucky state lines. All NRA members are welcome and encouraged to bring their families.

Come join NRA President Froman and celebrate freedom with Governor Daniels and his friends.

If you receive the email updates regularly from Jim Tombes his PC is burnt toast for the last 2 weeks now. Replacement is in progress.

Note about the previous email. I do not know the details of what administrative rules are being changed or adjusted by exec order. If anyone does know the details can you send me a copy. Knowing the details may help me and others to adjust our current activities to focus on the areas and issues this exec order does not address.

I will copy all of this and more online at the BB thehighroad.org and other venues. If I still have the link I will copy this at 2ndamendment.org – BB forum

Next step: Vermont Carry (and I don't mean me) in Indiana. If your state demands a permit to carry your own property, then you have no second amendment. You have an insulting privilege. I'm always amazed at how squeamish gun owners are at the thought of pushing vermont/alaska carry. Indiana's lifetime permit is a half way decent 1st step, but since the fee is higher, it's BARELY a first step. This executive order is great, but a future governor could just reverse it. The legislature needs to be MADE to respect your liberty if you want a permanent restoration of the 2nd amendment.

"If your state demands a permit to carry your own property, then you have no second amendment. You have an insulting privilege."
That statement is too perverse. Cannot wrapp the mind around that. And I will never go to NYNY or NJ.

This order of whatever scope it may be is a big change for Indiana. The commision that this will over rule will in short be .....should I even say it?...GOVERNED!
I can only hope this is about state park carry. Against the rules (law by the commision)for state parks now. Carry in gov buildings is not against the state code but the commision sets the laws in state parks.
In Indiana we could use much more than State Park carry. What we need is full and complete pre-emption on all administrative law originated outside the legislature to include every agency in the state gov to every podunk PD sheriff or marshal.
Right now if I go to a DNR range they will repeat that holsters are not allowed and they will require a brief pause between shots.
It would truly be icing on the cake if this exec order includes a pre-emtion the legislature can later re-inforce by adding it to state law.
