Got to shot my dad's Model 19-2

Folks,

This weekend I went home to visit my folks and my dad and I went to the range.

My dad brought along hit S&W 19-2.

It was my first time shooting his 19-2 and all I can say is that I now understand why so many of you praise this revolver.

It has a 6 inch (or so..) barrel and a target trigger job on it. We only shot .38 special out of it that day and man was that ball.

It was the easiest and most accurate pistol I've ever shot.
It just WANTED to line up on target all the time.

I don't know when he acutally got the pistol, but I'm 34 now and he's had at it for at least 30 years.
What a joy.

Can't wait for the next time. :D

The Smith & Wesson 6" model 19 is one of my all-time
favorites. I don't shoot much full house .357 magnum
ammunition anymore; so the 6" model 19 and
mild .38 Special handload's are the perfect match for
me, although nowdays I fire the same load from a 6"
model 686-5!

I'm another one that loves his M19, Like Ala Dan I only shoot 38's through it, easier on the gun and enjoyable for the wife and daughter to shoot.;)

I use my 6" 19s as trainers.
.22 to get the general idea and sight picture...
Then the 19 for more realistic bangin...
19s seem to like all shooters.

I picked up a 6" Model 19 a few months ago.

It joined my first Model 19, a 4", and my second one, a 2.5".

I truly can't think of a more perfect handgun.

m19's

I'm more partial to 4" revolvers, but I love the M19. I will be looking for a PPT in the PRK for a 4" and/or a 2.5" before the end of the year. The sooner the better. Or, if I am lucky, my dad will find one in Phoenix and give me a nice gift for being such a great son... :D

My M28 needs a little brother to keep him company. :)

A nice blue M28, M19, and M36 will just look right all in a row.

I know what you mean. I love revolvers. I love K frame revolvers. I love black revolvers. My 19-5 is the sweetest shooting handgun I own. Pinned and recessed chambers and a near perfect finish. Never had the action worked on, too sweet to mess with. Mostly use it at the range with soft loaded 38s. Love to shoot it at IDPA. Most guys give you funny looks when you show up with a revolver. I will definatley pass it on to my son. Once had it in a Ransom rest and it would shoot 1.5 groups at 60 feet. Way more accurate than me.

I also prefer the 4" but think trying to turn everything into a carry gun has made a lot of people forget how nice an extra couple of inches of barrel can be. Better accuracy for those with better eyes and less muzzel flash/blast to contend with makes it a very nice shooting experience.
