I was going to buy a Savage .22 MKII at my local gunshop the other day but they sold it, so I decided to shop around. I found one at my local Wally World for 99 bucks w/4X scope.
But, Man, did any of you ever buy a firearm at WalMart??
They are so friggin paranoid...1st, I have behind the counter, a woman who obviously doesn't normally work in sporting goods who can't find the box, goes into the back of the store for 20 mins to find it, only to come back and then realize that the box is right behind the counter (apperently, the rifle was only put on display an hour before I showed up.)
Then after I fill out the paper work, they call it in for the back ground check, they have to call up a manager to come up and double-check the firarms paperwork I filled out and double check my drivers liscense.
I then bought a bottle of Hoppe's and asked for a box of Winchester Wildcats. As the lady turned to get them, she was reminded by another employee: "Linda, don't you remember we can't sell ammunition with a rifle ever since what happened in NYC."
That's stupid. Can't buy ammo with gun untill further notice I was told. Then the manager, who seemed to be from a 3rd world country, had the box taped up and informed me that she would carry the rifle in the box, along with the reciept to the front with me and then would give it to me.
As I was walking with her to the front doors, I actually felt like I was being treated like some kind of criminal and I was actually starting to get embarrassed!
We got up front, she showed the reciept to the greeter at the doors and then handed me the box with my rifle in..
Oh well, I think it was worth it, I got what I was looking for. I really can't wait to take this rifle out tommarrow and shoot it
