Got rid of my SigPro.......

Bought a SigPro in .40S&W couple of weeks ago on the internet. Had held a few before, but when I got it, the are way too big feeling.

Huge gun, for only 10+1 rounds of .40 and no hi-caps available. So off it went, to be replaced by a .45 and a .44mag.

Looking at different 1911 based guns, thinking of either a Rock Island Armory or Charles Daly. It's only going to be used as a back-up to my Remington 870 HD and for plinking.......

Then I'm getting a Ruger Super Blackhawk Hunter. Can't wait for this one.....

If I buy another Sig it will be one of the Classics, probably a 229.

............Just say no to the SigPro............................

Thanks,
Steve Mc.

I considered buying a SigPro once as well. I eventually bought a HK USPc instead, simply because like you I felt the grip was too big.

For what reason!

are you saying just say no to the Sig pro, for the simple reason that it was to big and no hi cap. mags available. what about performance? accuracy? reliability? I have heard a lot of folks trash the Sig pro but usually because of ergonomics or style of the pistol. i am looking at a Sig pro and from what i have read on this forum, performance must be excellent! because its always the cosmetics of the gun that makes it a bad purchase.:) :)

It just not a very comfortable gun to handle. It's very big, the decocker is not positioned in a comfortable spot, for me, and is very stiff. It may shoot great, but so do lots of other guns.

IMHO, I would look at the 229. It's $100 more, and it's a very comfortable gun. To me it has the best feeling decocker of any gun.

Humanfly,

It may be just the perfect gun for you, but not for me. I'm glad it's gone, and since I picked it up on line, I didn't lose my @@s. Actually bought for $465 out the door, and sold for $500. If you buy, look on line, they're available for $425. Locally, they are $500-550.

Good luck

Humanfly,

From my experience with them, the SIGpros shoot fine (accurate and reliably) but are a bit chunky through the grip and have clunkier feeling controls than their P-series brethren. There are lots of accurate and reliable guns out there these days, though, so it's not too hard to find one that fits your hand just right.

I wouldn't pass up a screaming deal on one if it came my way while I was in the grip of the "gottabuyagun" jones, but I wouldn't go out of my way to seek one out, either.

I found that of all those who say" this gun is to big". I'll look at their hands and say "your hands are too small". So Steve just because you have smallish hands does not mean the gun in question is not worthy to the rest of us.sic" Just say no to Sig Pro". I'm glad HK makes the USP 45f it fits me perfectly specialy with the Hogue Hand all grips. I don't consider the Sig Pro huge by any means, my wife loves hers with the first pair of grips that came with it. You should have had two different size grips in the case that came with the Sig Pro along with three mags for a total of 31 rounds...

I don't think...

...think the SIGpro's grip is so much "big" as it is, I don't know the right term, "chunky"? It's certainly no larger around than my Beretta 96 or Glock 29, but it's not the usual triumph of ergonomics I expect from SIG. The P-series guns, especially the P-228/229, fit my grip as though SIG-Sauer engineers snuck into my room at night to measure my hand. The SIGpros, on the other hand, seem to have corners where my hand has no joints and flat areas where it does.

OTOH, this should be easy for SIG to fix if they get any customer feedback, given the modular nature of the grip.

T.labren,

I actually don't have small hands, pretty large really. My problem is w/ the small grip the gun didn't point well. Had to use the large one, and the gun pointed just right. And "reaching" the decocker was not easy, plus it wasn't positive......like the 229.

Big guns are great, just the controls need to be thought out better. Sig already had a great design, why not make a 228/229 gun w/a polymer frame. SigPro solved a problem that was not there.

To each his own. I like the Pro but my wife hates it. Her hands are considerably smaller than mine.

Ten shots are enough for me. Arthritis kicks in about the eighth shot and I want to change hands anyway.

Here's that old different strokes thing again. The Sigpro fits my hand like a dream. Most secure feel of all my pistols. I wish it had "hi caps" but mine came with 3 10 rounders for $429. I personally believe it has a nicer trigger than the P series. I find it points very nicely. It choked on chambering a Corbon 115 from the top round in the mag early on, but Corbons are short rounds. So I use Gold Dot 124 +P's and it hasn't bobble once. Since I amost exclusively carry in a fanny pack, thickness doesn't bother me. I acquired mine at a gun show from Collins Small Arms. They do have a website. However, I haven't seen them on display at the last 2 or 3 shows. I like the 2009 I got so much I went back looking for the 2340 they had for the same price at the time.
