Got off my ass - joined the NRA!

Yep, I finally did it.

I won't BS you - I haven't joined before today because I haven't been especially impressed with what the NRA has done - they've compromised a bit too much, when the anti's haven't given up squat.

But, there was a golden opportunity - I was at the local gun show today, and was getting my pictures taken for my CCW permit when I learned that there was an NRA booth there. I immediately went over and joined - signed up my girlfriend for a year too.

Despite my misgivings with the NRA, now more than ever I think it's important to do my part as a gun owner and give any support I can to the cause - especially during this election year.

I only wish there was a "Don't give me a frigging magazine, hat, or bullet - spend my money on my rights!" option.

Now if only there had been a GOA and JPFO booth there....

Bob--- Age and deceit will overcome youth and speed.
I'm old and deceitful.

If the magazines bug you, leave 'em at the barber shop, doctor's office, etc. That way the money is sort of spent on your rights, anyway. Who knows who'll find 'em?

Welcome to the club and congrats also for getting your wife signed up too! ! Your NRA card and your Voter Registration card are going to be two key cards this fall in the elections.

Welcome Aboard!
I don't always agree with the "kinder, gentler" NRA either, but they need the members, they need the money, and we need them.
I also agree, they could save alot of $$ if they cut back on all those mailings, hats, pins, pocket knives, etc.

Congratulations, Spark. We need the numbers, if for no other reason than to send a message.

As for the pins, knives, etc., I write a note with any contributions asking them not to send me anything, but to spend the money instead on something more worthwhile. Haven't received any junk since I started doing that.

I just joined up myself. I have the same misgivings about the NRA as you, Spark. But I do think having a high membership count does send a definite message. Besides, I know I'm in good company. :)

Attaboy Spark! I took application forms to work today and signed up my supervisor and another co-worker. Both of them own one shotgun apiece and haven't had them out of their cases in years. Both are conservitaves and the thought of Algore getting elected scares 'em, but what really influenced them were the articles I would show them about what the Liberals are up to and how their Constitutional rights really are in danger.

Just joined the other day myself. Had been holding off for a while, but a buddy at the range finally talked me into it. I feel the same about all the mags and accesories. Don't really need them.
