S&W fixed my gun. Gave me a brand new barrel, even test fired it for me . But they didn't clean it after .

I was told that the turn around time is usually 6-8 weeks but I got my revolver back in about 2 or 3 weeks.

Pretty good customer service overall.

The reason they don't clean it is so that you will know it was test fired and they were not just blowing smoke.

2 weeks turn around is pretty good. My Performance Center .460 Hunter had a recall for the barrel. Sent it in for inspection and they deceided to replace the barrel. It only took 16 weeks to get it back.

Ah I see. Now that you mention it Old timer, when I first bought my S&W, the chamber and cylinder was dirty and it came with a fired cartridge.

tmd11111, 16 weeks...? Do they take that long for all large caliber handguns or just yours?

I really want a .500, but if it takes 16 weeks to repair it....

Hank, supposedly it took so long because of the barrels. For the PC .460's and I believe the PC .500's as well, the barrels are made by Lothar/Walther in Germany. The recall only applied to the PC .460. For as long as it took you would have thought they used the barrel as a paddle to cross the atlantic.

That's just their way of saying that the gun doesn't HAVE to be cleaned every time it's shot
