Got my Pennsylvania non-resident CCW license in 3 hours...

I have my Virginia permit, but I wanted the PA permit, as well. Been meaning to do it every time I head up to my parent's place in Lewistown, Mifflin County, but just hadn't gotten around to it.

Finally finally got the chance to do it yesterday.

Stopped by the sheriff's office, filled out the application, and had it less than 3 hours later.

I think it helped the time frame quite a bit in that I've known the sheriff for years, my father pretty much grew up with the sheriff, and the sheriff knew my Grandfather pretty well.

Anyone else get their PA CCW permit in 3 hours? :)

I just need to goto the PD to get mine :(

Next time I am out there I will hav to do that

It is $15 correct?

Sorry Mike

About 45 minutes in Schuylkill County and about the same in Carbon. Of course the Carbon County one expired in 1900! Computer glitch.:D I don`t know if out of state permits take longer.

Dead,

I'm pretty certain that the state-mandated fee is $17.50.

Check http://www.packing.org

Dino,

I likely would have had it sooner, but the person who normally does the phone call was on Christmas vacation, and the other one was preparing a bank deposit for the office and didn't want to stop. :)

What REALLY annoys me about the PA Permit is the fact that unless you fold it it is too big to fit in a wallet.

Mike;

I have a credit card wallet that has an outside and inside window. I carry it in my biker wallet. It holds NRA, VA, etc. cards too. I found it in a leather shop. My license is laminated so I can`t fold it. It`s getting old so I hope I can find another one.

fee for PA carry permits

I believe, not certain, that the present fee is $19.00, that is for five (5) years. Last time I renewed, as I r4ecall, total time, including phone call, and the completion of a form occupied about 15 - 20 minutes. I do forms slowly.

Are OUT of state CCW's Shall issue in PA??? Bucks county states that one MUST be a Bucks county resident to apply for a CCW...

I was told by a friend from upstate

New York that Pa. issues to those who hold permits in contingenous (sp) states. NY, NJ etc. When I renewed mine I looked for it on the app. but don`t remember seeing it.

Apparently the law allows some lattitude to the Sheriff whether he will issue permits to out-of-staters (OOS) or not.

Remember, Bucks County is part of the liberal hell that is South East Pennsylvania. It really is New Jersey West, in a lot of ways.

Most Sheriffs who do issue to OOS will do so only if you have a permit from your state of residence.
