I got my Les Baer from Terry at P&T Partners today. Normally, I wouldn't be posting about a new gun purchase until I range tested it. Due to Terry's outstanding customer service, I had to make a post.

My experience with P&T Partners has been a great one. Terry is very professional and I would highly recommend you to look into his business for future 1911 purchases.

I've bought quite a few guns in my short life and dealth with a lot of dealers. P&T has been the best to date. I look forward to future purchases through his fine company.

I have no affiliations with P&T other than the fact I am one VERY pleased customer. Thanks Terry! His url: www.pt-partners.com

BTW, the Les Baer I got is a brand new Concept III with extended safety. I just cleaned and lubed it. Range testing it tomorrow. I'll post on how it performs.

SVT,
Congrats on the new LB. I own a Concept V and have been VERY happy so far, I shoot IDPA with it and carry occasionaly when I don't carry my Kimber Ultra carry. Did you read the instructions with your new LB? They use a break in type of oil and say not to clean any of the gun till you fire at least 300-400 rounds. I don't know if it is BS or not but after spending the big $$$ I followed their advice and have had a great tool since. Good luck and enjoy :D

CJ is correct about the lube svt,all baer stainless pistols come with a really nasty looking silver colored lube in them. You should leave in during break in. :)

Congrats on the purchase of a very fine gun!!! Hope that everything works out as well as you thought it would... :)

Well, being set in my ways, upon taking the pistol home, I cleaned and lubed it. Unfortunately, I didn't read the "leave the gunk in" letter till this morning. At the same time, that's when I read this newsgroup grrrrrr. Any suggestions? Should I try to order some from Les Baer? Or should I use my lube and fire away?

Call Les Baer Custom on the phone (309 658 2610) and ask for Karen or Brenda. Phone will be faster than email. Explain that you cleaned the stainless steel break-in lube off of the gun and they will help you by either recommending a substitute or sending you some by mail.

This was the situation with one other gentleman on a full stainless Concept V. Les Baer Custom mixes the stuff up in the shop.

Be safe and keep the brass flying

What is the suggested break in period for a new Stainless Auto - and when you call, ask if they will sell that special lube to other than Baer customers.

I will ask if they will sell the gunk to non-Baer customers for you George.
The break in period they recommend is 200-300 rounds for the two tone but up to 500 rounds for complete stainless.

George,
I got off the phone with Les Baer. He stated that the gunk is a mixture they make at the shop. It's not commercialized :(

Sounds like the stuff that was in our Glock actions when we were issued them. Glock recommended that the compound be left in the action for the first 200-300 rounds as part of the break in. Someone may want to contact Glock to see exactly what the stuff is.

Sounds like it could be a lithium grease. But I never seen it - so I aint sure.
Hmmm - lithum grease mixed KY jelly and a dash of Break Free... I wonder what it is.
