Got any old Remington-Peters plastic 12 ga hulls?

I must have 2,000 Alcan G57F and Remington 57 shotshell primers I'd like to use. Thanks to responses on The Firing Line I find the only hulls these fit are the Remington Peters.

The primers measure .230" diameter next to the rim and I have thirteen high base plastic R-P that the primer hole measures .218 which is the correct size for these primers.The primer, due to it's taper, will start in the hulls hole. I didn't try to seat one.

Now if I could only find a hundred or so old R-P hulls with the same small diameter primer hole I could hopefully used up all the primers. I don't think I can get my 13 hulls to last the 153 reloads to use up the 2,000 primers.

I would be happy to pay shipping.

I might have a few - literally a handful. I know that I have most of a box of unfired Peters shells.

I have Win AAs, Fiochi, Rem STS and Rem Preimer hulls on hand. Jim
 
I have 170 Blue Peters hulls. Some marked "heavy" some marked "light".
PM me your address and there yours. Most are once shot, but some look to be shot a couple times.

The blue Peter's hulls ("BLUE MAGIC") that I have are primed with the Rem. #97 primer. Is that the same size as the #57?
PM me also - whatever I find, I'll send. Probably just take that box and shoot some clays this week and send you the hulls. Should be near 25.

The 97* is the same size as a 209. The 57* is smaller. All current production shells use either 209 or 616 size primers. The 616 is used in some Fiocchi, Cheddite and other European hulls, the 209 in everything else.

I have several that have been sitting in a box in the house for years, not sure I follow how to check if they are the correct ones. Do I need to push out a primer and measure something?
Does it matter if they have paper or plastic base wads?

The hulls I have are GREEN. That doesn't mean that other colors won't work. The key is the primer hole diameter and yes the primer has to be out to measure the diameter. My hulls says "EXPRESS POWER PISTON MAGNUM" and was loaded with #4. The hole dia should be about .218-.225" and a #209 primer won't even start in the hole as they measure .245"

So if any of yours have the .218-.225" dia primer hole - I'm interested.

BigV did you measure the primer or primer hole?

Those are probably the hulls I need as the .230" dia #57 primer would press into that diameter hole. The 209 primers are .245" and would never fit. How many do you have?

Nutty Ned : I don't think the base wad material will make any difference IF I can get the primers in.

The .230" concerns me BigV. When I measure the primer holes in the Remington Peters hulls I have I get a consistent .225" MAX...Other (non R-P)hulls measure .240" which seems about right for a .245"dia primer like a Federal 209.

I don't have any CCI shotgun primers to measure so I don't know their diameter. I can't find any .230" diameter primer holes in the hulls I have, and since the Alcan G57F and Remington 57 primers measure .230" that makes the .225" a nice press fit but they would fall out of the .230" primer holes you are getting. :confused:
 
I have some old shells from my grandfather that I've been saving for collector value. You may find some old shells that are the correct vintage to reload. When did all the companies standardize on the 209 primer size? I'd let my shells go for the right price which is current collector value. I have some remington sure shot in the yellow and red boxes from the early 70s. I'd say about 10-15 boxes worth. They are a semi translucent shell with power piston wads. I don't shoot them because they are rare and I tend to use value pack Federal most of the time I want to shoot skeet. If you just want a couple of boxes worth, you can probably find some for a reasonable price on gun broker and just sell off the vintage box.
