After searching and searching for a certain .44 spc. I finally found one on gunbroker that wasn't more than I was willing to pay.

It's an original Charter Arms:

I tell ya, this is the lightest revolver I own. It was almost NIB and hadn't been shot much at all. I hope to get out to the range for a few rounds this weekend, if the wife doesn't hold it from me until Christmas... :dooh:

Jeez....I shoulda cleaned it up some before I took the pic. Oh well, tell me what you think.

Carry a lot- shoot very little? Seems like I heard that one many times before...

I have seen many of those in duty holsters. They were a popular duty weapon for LEOs that were required to be armed but, weren't on road patrol. Bailiffs/courtofficers/marshals seemed to pack them often. I have a constable friend in TX that still packs hers. I think they were great CCWs too. I wouldn't mind one for nostalgia myself. They aren't bad in accuracy or durability. They are difficult to find in that shape with the original grips. Pachmayrs were a popular addition.

If it's one of the original Charter Arms Bulldogs, you got a nice very piece, omegapd. The original Bulldogs (not those built by Charco or Charter 2000) were very well built and reliable revolvers. I had one many years ago that I used as a carry gun. Unlike some, I like the .44 Special, but when I had mine about the only ammo you could get for it was lightly loaded lead round nose, which is why I traded it for a .38. Nowadays, however, there's pretty good ammo being produced in .44 Special, which changes things considerably. Good luck with the piece! Let us all know how well it shoots.

Congratulations on your find. I bought mine back in 1975 or so shortly after they came on the market, still have it.
