Got a steal on a S&W Model 65LS...

I wasn't really shopping for a new gun today, but I couldn't pass up this deal.

It's a NIB Model 65LS "Ladysmith", 3" heavy barrel K-frame in .357 Magnum. A three-inch fixed-sight Magnum K-frame is considered by many to be the ultimate carry wheelgun, and the 65LS is the nicest of the bunch. It has a frosted stainless finish for corrosion resistance without the flashiness of naked or polished stainless. It also sports a shrouded ejector rod, something that is missing on all the other fixed-sight 3" M13s and M65s, save the Performance Center PC-13.

Best of all, I got it for $373, brand new. I've been looking for a 65LS in good shape for a long time now, and they just don't come in better shape than NIB. :D

The sideplate that's laser-engraved with "LadySmith", the factory action job for a smoother DA pull, and the pretty wood grips, I s'pose.

Sounds like a nice gun. It sure looks nice. I might have a hard time hauling around a piece that says "Lady Smith" though...
Although, that is my last name, maybe my mom would like one :)

Nice find...you'll love it. I got one last month for $399.00, and I thought I'd never see that price beat. I put some Hogue's on it, barely feel the recoil now. Enjoy it !

Very nice! That is the one handgun that I know would immediately replace the SP101 as my carry gun. Sweet deal, too! If I recall correctly, best I could do around here was in the $450 range.

I had a conversation with my former coworker when I picked up the gun. He commented that he really liked the 65LS, and that he would have already bought it if it didn't say "LadySmith" on the side plate.

Interesting that a grown man would pass on what is one of the finest carry revolvers ever made, just because it has the word "Lady" on it.

I told him that I highly doubt a bad guy would laugh at me for carrying a LadySmith if he looked down the muzzle end.

I bought three inch Smith Model 65s for both of my daughters when they were
fourteen and fifteen years old. They are now in their early thirties and still carry and shoot their 65s. Both have CHLs and carry in a speed draw purse.

I give my children and grand children guns, ammo and membership in firearms associations for Christmas each year. They all love to shoot and are Constitution Supporters.

dasmi asked:

What make's it a "Lady Smith?"
--The shrouded ejector rod (regular M65 has the heavy barrel but not the shroud.)
--The special stocks.
--Earlier models had a smoothed-up action. Dunno about the late ones, with the integral lock.
--The special finish Marko mentioned.
--Plus the script "Lady Smith" marking, of course.

As to being nervous about packing a revolver with "Lady" enscribed on it - - It is a given that, following even a good shoot, there WILL be a prosecutor's review and probably a grand jury hearing. Even after being cleared there, more likely than not, there'll be a civil suit. There IS a school of thought that one is better off if the evidence before the court and jury is NOT an uber tackticul mean-lookin' pistol marked "Pit Bull" or "Goblin Killer," fitted with skull-and-crossbones stocks. A kinder, gentler "lady's gun" might indicate the good guy shooter wasn't out just LOOKING for trouble . . . .

Best,
Johnny

I like the gun and wouldn't mind carrying one at all. If anybody made any comments about the logo, I'd just hit 'em with my purse. ;)
