Got a Rolling Block--what to do?

I should soon have a Navy Arms Rolling Block action. I can't decide which way to go... I have access to a Shilen 45 barrel (round profile, not octagonal) cheap and wood from Boyd's, but I thought I'd survey the gallery to see if anyone had some suggestions. I considered 50 cal, but the brass and bullets seem like an expensive pain in the neck for what you get compared to using a 45-whatever. So, limber up yer fingers and let me know...

1. 45 or 50 cal?
2. How big a cartridge? -70, -90, -120...?
3. Octagonal or round bbl?
4. How long?
5. Select wood or whatever I can get?

Thanks in advance.

I'd have to agree with handloader. The .45-70 is by far the most popular cartridge for these guns, and the way to go.
