Just bought it today. My brother got one too. His was slightly used but in excellent condition I must say. Mine was NIB. She had it in the back of the shop, just sitting there, since '94.
My brother's is the newer style with the rounded trigger guard and Novaks, mine is the first style with the hooked trigger guard and fully adjustable sights.
Can't wait to pick them up. We live in KY but bought them up in WV. So we have to wait to have them shipped down on Tuesday.
We each used to own one of these years ago. But lately, when a friend of mine picked one up, I've been wanting another one real bad. And watching The Shield on FX lately doesn't help either! I'm real picky about buying used guns that I don't know the history on, thats why I was glad to find this particular model.
I plan on sending mine off to Novak soon for a carry bevel package, reliability package, and trigger job.
Let me get something straighted out though. The 4506 is the one with the hooked trigger guard. And the 4506-1 is the model with the rounded trigger guard. Correct? Were there any other changes made? When were these changes made?
Is there anyway we can check our SNs out to see when they were made? I emailed S&W for a friend last week about the 4506-1 he got, and they said it was made in '82! I'm guessing it was a misprint, but '92 still wouldn't have been right, would it?
