Ruger GP100, 6" bbl chopped to 4 1/2", S&W ramp front sight, Eagle grips, trigger job, found it used for $270.00. Shoots REAL nice. I think I'll keep it as my 17 year old daughter just claimed it as hers.

I must inquire as to why the barrel was modified? It looks fine, I am still interested as to what prompted anyone to perform such surgery?
 
no idea why the bbl chop job

I saw the gun in the case, noticed the grips, tried the trigger, decided to buy it and then noticed the front sight. Trigger was so good, and the stocks are worth $60.00 or so and fit my hand so well.
I think it looks like a "Smith and Ruger".
The odd front sight ramp has grown on me since bringing it home, kinda like an ugly baby that the parents show to everyone and say "isn't IT beautiful?
I guess it's one of those oddities that someone else spent a bunch of money on and then dumped. I'm happy with it.
 
It does look unusual. I would suggest having a competent gunsmith look it over and check the safety functions. If they were doing unusual modifications, it would be good to know. A friend bought a used Ruger once. The pre-owned revolver was a Vaquero. It had the safety transfer bar removed and the hammer welded up to function. It worked.
 
have had it checked, the innards are stock

the action has been honed. really smooth trigger pull, but not too light. sets off the primers just fine.

only thing I can tell is that bobbed bbl with a S&W style ramp front sight.
 
we never know why some people do the things they do

like spending the money to customize a gun, and then sell it off. I'm calling it the S&R (Smith and Ruger) Model 1.
Some of my toys have a story that I know.
I have a Series 70 Commander that was taken from a local marijuana grower. He got busted with several pounds of weed and this gun. Now it's mine. I didn't want the weed though. And no, the gun doesn't smell like weed, just Hoppe's and Break-Free.
