I filled out the paperwork today and want a CCW holster and a backcountry (hunting back-up holster) holster fot my 340PD with hi-viz sight. Can some please suggest a pocket holster and a traditional holster that mounts on the belt. I did a seasch and found that most like the galco pocket holster but haven't heard much about a traditional exposed carry holster. When I hunt I end up walking many miles and this gun is the perfect back up for the aggresive hogs I encounter, I need a quick draw holster for that purpose. All opinions would be appreciated.

Take a look at "Rafter Gunleather".

If you can't find their website, e-mail me and I'll send it to you. Also Ron Graham makes good belt holsters.

Nothing against the 340pd, I have one myself, but in my opinion it's not much of a hog protection weapon. With it's short barrel, even with full power mags, which btw will be painful at best, it's not got the greatest accuracy at much farther than 10 yards and doesn't hit that hard.

Personally I would delegate it to pocket carry for self defense and get a .44 of some flavor for the hogs.

Howeve, there are more than a handful of companies that make holsters for J frame smiths. Any of the big makers will have several models to choose from. For something like hiking I would think Uncle Mikes would make a cheap, lightweight nylon holster that should work just fine.
