"None of my proposals would have any effect on hunters or sportsmen or people who use rifles." -- Al Gore

This was a response from Gore about the Brady Law question tonite.

So where do I fit in. He didnt say anything about the person wanting to defend his loved ones and property. He didnt say anything about me with 2 handguns that like to go down to the range and improve my shooting skills.

So am I correct in interpreting that he doesnt want me to have a gun. And that "hunters and sportsmen" are ok? And we all know that eventually they would be disarmed as well. Im about to puke!

Try to take away my gun...and you will see my 2nd Amendment Right in ACTION!!! -Me

The laws that forbid the carrying of arms are laws of such a nature. They disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crime. Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man." The French government told it's people they'd never take the guns from the hunters either. Look what's happening over there.

Don't fail to learn from history people, we have a wealth of knowledge, of mistakes long past that we don't have to repeat again. We have examples in Australia, England, France, etc.

The Bill of Rights is a document of brilliance, a document of wisdom, and it is the ultimate law, spoken or not, for the very concept of a society that holds liberty above the desire for ever greater power. -Me

Compromising the right position only makes you more wrong.

Gore is using the same "sporting purpose" reasoning that Clinton used.

Notice that Gore didn't say anything about handguns. Because a total ban on handguns is on his "agenda"...

Guns used for anything other than instruments of deadly force are irrelevant to the 2nd Amend.

Hunters are the same as guys playing poker.

Some doofus with a gun, he takes out once a year to pop at a whitetail, does not contributed to the RKBA. The gun easily could be kept in a government closet and issued during deer season.

I wish once someone on the pro gun side would actually make the case for us having guns according to the RKBA - defense against crime, protect liberty, etc.

Stop with the sportsmen crap. In that case, we would all probably be better with Ruger single shot. No.1s

The key to Gore's response was the need for a 3 day cooling off period. I guess he was talking about the body cooling off and going into rigor mortis after being killed while waiting for 911 cops.

If any hunters and 'sportsmen' are buying this load, all I have to say is "Fish on! Fish on!"

Unfortunately, I'm sure some of them are.

Shin-Toa, good links-- may I suggest another: www.conservative.org is the ACU site which sells "Al Gore: America in the Balance" as well as a fact book on another 2A enemy, Hitlery. Each are $3.95, and on a sliding scale for mass purchases. Get as many as you can & pass them around. Small businesses & Doctor's offices in particular, and libraries, too.

If you believe Al "Forest, I'll say any thing to get elected" Gore says on anything then I have some prime farm land in on the Lower Mississippi River for sale and a Bridge in New York.

A week ago, Gore said that he would not deprive people of guns for hunting and home defense. Note the latter. Now he has omitted defense as a reason to own a gun. Why? I suspect that he got stomped on by Bill, HCI and the other people and groups who totally oppose the idea of self defense. So this week, no mention of self defense, only hunting, which, according to HCI, is the only valid reason to own a gun. Note that HCI works closely with PETA to ban hunting. If hunting is banned, what guns are used for hunting? You guessed it.

What they want now is something like the European rules. You can own a gun only if you have a hunting license. To get a hunting license you have to pass an extensive test, be sponsored, have land to hunt on, pay a huge license fee, and have the approval of local and national police forces. This does not even include the equivalent of thousands of dollars that must be paid in bribing officials in most countries.

That, folks, is where Al is coming from.

Please note that Weird Al brought the subject up while answering an unrelated question. Why? one might ask. Well tadpole, Weird Al opened up the gun stuff because he saw himself getting in deep do do in Michigan and Pennsylvania. He has to keep the blue collar types happy and on the reservation. Problem is those blue collar types are gun-tottin' blue collar types. In the debate he admitted he was in trouble with this block of voters because be brought the subject up at his discretion.

Cheer up! Weird Al has problems (with the electorate, that is).

I don't hunt. Never have. I shoot to keep my self-defense skills honed, and to blow off steam when somebody like Gore gets the stage.
If the "hunters" go with Gore this year, I hope they get cornholed by a big buck while they're sleeping in their tents.
