Today at our church service we didn’t have sermon but in its place we prayed for Gods will this national election and that citizens of this country vote their heart using biblical principles. It was a very good service.
While going to my car I passed an elderly (82) gentleman in the parking lot and said to him I hear you’re voting for Gore knowing well he was a George W supporter. He turned to me and said Gore can’t be elected he’ll take our freedoms away. This gentleman is a naturalized citizen and loves the US deeply.
When the Nazi’s invaded Holland he was in the Dutch Cavalry and said that the Nazi troops just rolled over the Dutch Army and his birth country was conquered and occupied.
He said life under Nazi occupation was a nightmare but for some it was worse the Jews and others were taken to camps and murdered. He then joined the Dutch underground and after the war was over he found out his name was on a list of possible underground members and he was scheduled to be executed but the war ended.
He was on a roll as he mentioned the communists and how they took the guns from the people and then killed millions of Russian citizens.
This old gentleman is a retired autoworker and he said to me a couple weeks ago that the leadership is out of step with the membership. He stated that without freedoms the government would eliminate the unions and what would they have then.
He looked me dead in the eyes and said NEVER AGAIN if I have anything to do with it. Gore must be defeated.
I got in my car with tears streaming down my face. I thought of how bad it must have been to live under the Nazi rule and what this man and his wife must have gone (tyranny) through during these years. And then how people in this country are so willing to give up a little freedom now (but much more later will come) for financial security.
Most of the people I know have said they will vote for Gore because the economy is so good.
