I could NOT believe the story that just aired on NBC's Dateline.
It was about one of the boys that was shot at Colombine. He's unable to use his legs and his left hand is partially disabled. He's got a lot to overcome.
My pro-RKBA mind immediately went into thoughts of how "timely" the story was. They "conveniently" ran this story within days of the President demanding more gun legislation in light of last week's shootings.
And now they're showing clips of kids running out of Colombine and how this boy is now in a wheelchair.
Back to the story. Not only is this boy having all kinds of challenges, but his father was diagnosed with cancer.
They then show how the boy is now overcoming his challenges. It's tough, but he's determined. He's even starting to ski again.
Then they take him to the place where he was shot and talk about a girl that was killed right next to him.
My heart really went out to this boy. I feel really bad for him. But all the while, I'm bugged about how NBC is surely using this story to push the ideas of why we need more gun control. They never said it, but it sure seems fishy that they're running the program tonight.
But here's the kicker! At the end of the story, they cut back to the announcer. He says that the boy and his father recently testified in front of congress regarding gun control legislation.
And I yelled out, "HERE WE GO!" I knew they were going to say something, but it wasn't what I thought.
The announcer said that the boy and his father testified that they didn't think we need to pass more gun laws. Instead, they believe that stricter enforcement of current laws will cut down on crime.
I can't believe NBC said that. I'm proud of them for saying it, but I can't believe they said it.
