What is a good scope for a 10/22, particularly, this one. Not looking to spend a ton, but not looking for cheap cheap either.

hmmmmm?

That's not your run of the mill Wally World 10-22, glad you posted a pic.

Bipod, heavy barrel..........Target turrets and a side focus would not be out of place. What about one of the Weaver Tactical numbers?

One thing for sure, give some thought to focus/adjustable objective. I set my heavy barrel .22 up with a fixed power 10X and no focus, and cannot get a clear sight picture till beyond 50yds. It works, as I shoot it mostly at 100, but for small targets in close, my rifle is useless.

Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40 (1-inch tube, BDC reticle, return-to-zero turrets)
Mueller APT 4.5-16x42 (30mm tube, tactical turrets)

They're both less than $200.

I second jsimmons.

Also the Simmons .22mag is a great scope for the money. Put one on and you may find it needs no upgrade.

For plinking I can hit golf balls at twenty-five yards with my 10/22 and a 3X Leupold scope. Your rifle is decked out and you should put any quality variable power, adjustable AO scope on it. That way you can adjust your parallex to the range needed and be able to hit targets at 100 + yards.

I too have been very pleased with the Mueller 4.5x14 APV with AO.

Very nice scope for the $ and very clear for the distances I'll ever be shooting the 10/22 at.

I'm a big fan of the Mueller Eraticator. The 8-25 magnification and illuminated 3/8" dot reticle give you precision capability at close to long range. Nice clear glass even at 25 power. At $230 it's not cheap cheap, but not outrageously pricey either. It's one of my favorite scopes...up there with ones much more $$.

I will say though it is a larger scope probably best suited for target shooting or off of the bench.

I have an Eraticator. It's a BIG scope (8.5-25x50). I used it for silhouette competition on a CZ-452, but the 8X was almost too much for that. It's actually too much scope for a .22 when you get right down to it, so I'm thinking of replacing it with a Nikon ProStaff.

I was considering a Mueller APT (the tactical version of the APV), but I don't want to have to buy yet another mount for it (all of my current scopes have 1-inch tubes, and the APT has a 30mm tube).

All three of my 10/22's are topped with Mueller APV's. For the money (~$120) they are hard to beat. You get AO, bright glass and quality construction.

I agree that for some common uses of a .22 it is too big and too powerful. However if you primary shoot from a bench like a lot folks do, its great. After deciding to turn my 10/22 into a bench only rifle I actually found I wanted an even more powerful scope and upgraded to a Weaver T36. I wouldn't say any scope is too powerful for a .22...maybe for certain uses yes, but if your a benchrest shooter, more magnification=more precision.

The Mueller APV 4.5-14x is absolutely the best scope I've used on a sporter rimfire. Cost is under $150 online. It's extremely clear and bright, and adjustments are accurate.
