Good reading from the days of the 1903

I'll have to look for that score/log book. I use the Champion's Choice as well as the Creedmore Armory books for my match rifles. They are invaluable for maintaining round counts per rifle as well as sight settings under different conditions and different lots of ammo. They also have reletively easy to use wind diagrams for military rounds.

As far as training manuals go, I have a reprint of TR No 150-5 "Marksmanship Rifle, Individual" by the War Department dated June 6, 1923. It is, as you can surmise by the the date, 1903 centric.

A second book that I have is "A Course of Instruction in Rifle Firing" by COL Laidley, Ordnance Dptl, US Army published in 1879. Of course it is Trapdoor Springfield specific, but as I shoot those too, it's a great tome too. It has numerous charts for rolling fire against cavalry or against infantry, trajectory and examples of log book pages for soldiers to make.

If anyone interested in them, you can get them at Cornell Publications at:
