Good Price?

I just recently came across a dealer that has a brand new in the box Smith & Wesson 1006 with adjustable sights and a factory (still sealed in plastic) magazine for $650 -- turns out he had a whole bunch of inventory that he forgot about and now that he found them, he's offering them up for sale. I've always been pretty happy with S&W pistols and this would make a nice addition to my collection. Is $650 for a brand new in the box 1006 a good price?

NO. "Inventory that he forgot about..."??? Yeah, right. :( I bought a 1006 when they were new on-the-scene, & in great demand right after the FBI's adoption, back in '90-'91, IIRC. It was only about $485.
Even accounting for inflation, I think that you can do better. FWIW, though, I do think that the Smith and the Glock are the only two that can truly stand up to lots of use, Deltas and Brens notwithstanding. :)
