Good price on used CDP?

My wife's cousin's husband is an LEO. He's selling his Kimber Compact CDP (compact grip, officer length slide) in order to finance the fullsize version. His CDP is his back-up piece --- carried a lot but not shot much. He's meticulous about his guns, and this one is in excellent shape. Wants $700 out of it.

Fair price? Bargain? Pass? Opinions welcome.

Also, a local shop is getting in some limited edition Kimber Pro Shadows? What are they and how do they differ from the CDPs?

take it and run.....quick. The Ultra CDP lists anywhere from $940 to $999 plus. The Pro Shadow and Pro Eclipse differ fromt he CDP mostly in the weight department, as the CDP has an aluminum frame. Also, I believe the CDP comes with factory night sights as standard.

I have a Pro Eclipse and love it.
 
Offer 600$, but have 700$ just in case he wants to stand firm on his price. The price isn't bad, but it doesn't hurt to try to do better.
 
Thanks for the info guys. Had it been anyone else but a family member, I'd have offered a lower amount to start. But he and I have a good relationship and neither wants to take advantage of the other. I just wanted to know if $700 is a good price for a used version.

As for the Pro Shadow, I couldn't find any info about it on the Kimber website --- although I was told by the clerk at the shop that the ones they ordered have night sights and that the price will likely be in the high $700's.
