Good price for S&W 1903 32 hand ejector 3rd change?

Blued 3-1/4" revolver S/N 5169XX. This is a small chip on the bottom of the grip but other than that the gun is in excellent condition. I don't buy used guns, but this one I'd make an exception if I wanted a .32. It belonged to my wife's grandfather who was a policeman.

That gun does look to be in nice shape, the old .32 HE's dont bring a ton of $. with all the accessories probably $4-500.

That's a .32 Hand Ejector Third Model.

I don't believe that the cleaning rods are S&W. They're a pretty common style seen from the 20s on through the 1960s.

That appears to be a two-piece red box of the type that was introduced sometime in the mid to late 1930s, and which continued on into the 1950s. Hard to tell, though, with it on that purple cloth.

The serial number probably puts it in the 1930s....

The grips are interesting, though, as I thought that they had dropped the hard rubber grips by that time.

Odd, but my Supica and Nahaus says that the Smith & Wesson marking is on the right side of the barrel, and the .32 Long Ctg. marking is on the left side of the barrel.

The book has to be incorrect, as at that time the cartridge marking was always on the right side of the gun.

I just bought a shooter for $250 that has the wood grips, most likely from the early 30's

hoping to take it out soon
