Good Overall 12 Gauge?

I am looking into getting a 12 gauge for hunting deer primarily but I would also like to go for birds from time to time. Could you guys suggest a good multipurpose gun that would work for both. This is the one I am currently considering.
Winchester Super X2 Universal Hunter Field12 Gauge 3.5" 26" Barrel

that gun should work fine. 'run what you brung' maybe just a few choke tube changes and you are good to go. slugs for deer/large game... properly selected bird shot sizes for the rest. and you're good to go.

woops saw that you were only considering that, i read it fast as if you had that gun already and was looking for another. in that case, i agree with the other poster that states there isn't really a reason for the 3.5". so if you omitted some other choices based on they 'only' went to 3" i'd reconsider them.

I really like the mossberg 500 combo gun. They offer a combo with a rifled slug barrel and a 28" modified choke barrel for birds. It is offered at a very affordable price. I got mine several years ago for less than $300. Remington offers the durable 870 in a similar configuration for a good deal as well. If I were you I wouldnt worry about getting a 3.5" chamber for the loads you will be using for deer and birds. A 3.5" is mainly used for steel shot geese and turkey loads.

benneli nova. indestructable . can get a slug barrel for it, 3.5 in . camo . my all around shot gun. and cheap.. can be had for about 350 bucks.

+1 to the remington 870. i sleep next to one loaded with 00 buck. shouldnt be a problem to load with slugs for deer hunting though or some birdshot. and although i plan on putting pistol grips on it, you can custgomize them very easily with a camo stock ect. for what you may be hunting

The Winchester Super X is a fine gun and I'm sure you'll be happy with it.

I've always been partial to Browning Auto-loaders. You should be able to find an old A-5 for a pretty reasonable price because they made a bunch of them.

I've got a benelli Super Nova and I absolutely love it. Its sturdy, slick, and dead reliable. I would say you couldn't go wrong with something like that.

.12 GA shotgun?

You just can't go wrong with a Remington 870 shotgun. You can hunt most anything with the different barrels they offer. Good reliability and a reasonable price, is a hard combination to beat.

I have a Remington 870 Exress Supermag. It can take 3.5" shells (though you couldn't pay me to shoot 3" slugs out of it ever again). I got the combo kit which came with a 24"(I believe) rifled deer barrel and a 26" vent rib barrel.

To me, it's the perfect all 'round gun, which is why I bought it.

Mossberg 500a. You could get the combo with the bird and slug barrel but I just have the bird barrel and still shoot slugs through it. Love the thing to death and its a good gun if you're on a budget.
