Good Online Black Power Shops

Buffalo arms (www.Buffaloarms.com) does black powder cartridge.

Flintlocks.com (Jim Chambers) and http://www.longrifles-pr.com do rifle and fowler kits. The Chambers kits are fantastic. Also Sitting Fox (sittingfoxmuzzleloaders.com) and Muzzleloader Builders Supply (https://muzzleloaderbuilderssupply.com). Tip Curtis' Frontier Shop doesn't have a website, but if you Google the name, you'll find a phone number. He goes to lots of fairs, especially NMLRA's shoots at Friendship. If you live near Middle Tennessee, his shop is about 30 min north of Nashville in Cross Plains. He mostly sells in-the-white guns, but they are a fantastic product, too. Great place to spend a couple hours and lots of great info from him. The prices are very fair for the quality. I've heard that TOTW and a couple other suppliers get their blanks from the same source but I can't confirm that.

Once the online shops get a way for me to touch, feel, smell, scratch and taste, they'll get some of my business.

I just can't buy a whole lot until I can hold or see it.

Other than powder... Has something happened to the powder inc website?

I like Dixie Gun Works and Buffalo Arms for guns, and Track of the Wolf has the most accessories. They also have a very wide selection of shooting components with the best prices I've found, balls and patches of all sizes etc. etc.

Dixie Gun Works has great customer service, and handle returns really well.

I like DGW for the diversity of guns and parts. It has been that way since I was a teenager in the 60's when DGW was a bible on my Dad's bar/library.

Another "super" question

I sure glad to see this post and this is a question that I have wondered about as well. Enjoy seeing the replies. Some listed, are new to me. ..... ;)

I'll edit the opening post to bring in all the added links.

Working where I do + living in the sticks of Southern Missouri - I haven't found a good shop that carries BP guns and gear for hands on. I recall there being 1 shop in the Chicago area.

Please also recommend - shops that carry period clothing &/or buck skinner gear.

Here in eastern Kansas, there are no "real" black powder stores around that I've been able to find. The best place to find stuff is Cabelas in Kansas City or Wichita, both 2 hours away from me in opposite directions.

I feel your pain brother. It's why I go to the online sites like Dixie and Track. I'd love there to be a place nearby that sells a wide range of traditional black powder stuff, but no luck in this part of the country.

Bass Pro has their HQ / shop in Springfield, MO (1.5hrs from my house) but only carry a small amount of BP goods. Can get powder, primers, balls, and the basics but not much in guns other than in-lines around deer season.

Edit:

We should start a thread called: Your favorite Brick & Mortar black powder shop.

List the address contact info - who knows we might be passing through town some day.

Thanks, Gary !!!

Gary, thanks for the link and I actually had to go in thar and confirm who they were. I was dealing with these folks back in the early 80's and had forgotten about them. They may just be the oldest shop, on the list and were always great folks. ....

Thanks and;

Add www.deercreekproducts.net to the list.
Located in Waldron, IN (between Friendship and Indianapolis), they have lots of parts for CVA, ASM and Pietta plus accessories. They are a distributor for Goex powder too. I'm lucky enough to live near by so I can purchase black powder in bulk and save $ by refilling my empty containers and no shipping.

You might check out The Gun Works in Oregon. They stock a lot of parts and firearms...and have their own barrel making business as well. If I'm not mistaken, I think they took over the Sharon Barrel equipment. Nice people to deal with and fast shipping. They have a good catalog of their offerings as well as a website. If you talk to Suzi there, she knows her business....
