Good news for para fans

???

Scroll forward all the way to 18:58 for Remington -- but there's no mention of the double stacks.

Travis Tomasie has one named for him. He mentioned that Remington has tweaked the magazines so they hold one more round than factory Para-Ordinance magazines did. When I pressed him on that, he admitted they did it by using an extended base (probably like Para's old law-enforcement base), so the extra round is below the end of the grip frame.

I'm glad to see the Para's coming back, even if they now wear the Remington name. I just hope Remington didn't crew them up too badly.

My mistake wrong link, try this one. Travis talks about his model (close to the pro custom but better and the tac ops like the old black ops. Non commital on release but sounds imminent. Mentions going to 15+1, not sure how that effects us in CT. Fortunately my pro custom, which is a primary range gun for me, is trouble free, as has been my BO. Just past 1/2 way thru the video.

travis is the nicest guy, where did you speak w him?

There is an extensive article in the firearms News covering the new Remington 18 +1 semi auto pistol, that should give the Big Green haters lots of fuel to dislike a pistol that they have never handled or fired. I personallly have not had the opportunity to fire the weapon as I have no need for a high capcity full sized service pistol at this time, i am really intrigued over the S&W 2.0 however..

"Imminent" was the word Travis used at SHOT (which is where I talked to him). When I tried to pin down what "imminent" means, he hedged but when I suggested second quarter of 2017 he allowed that might be a good estimete.

I've exchanged e-mails with him previously but this year's SHOT Show was the first time I've met him in person.

15+1 won't help you. No new magazines over 10 rounds in Connecticut. Any that you already own were supposed to be registered with the state police in 2014. If you have 'em and they're not registered, you're a felon, so don't tell anyone.

AB my comment around 15+1 was unclear. My point was if they believe the fix for the mag issue was adding length/spring or something else that is prohibited in CT then not sure how they will make 10rd mags work. There must be something else they've done to resolve feeding issues. Either way I'm set, no plans to buy any more 1911 style guns and I have all the registered high cap mags I need for paras. Too many years competing.

I hope it works out, I genuinely love the feel and for a guy w small hands that's saying something. Some of my favorite handguns to shoot.

I had the impression the feeding tweak (whatever it is -- probably follower design) was separate from the capacity. Dawson Precision used to sell what Para-Ordnance (as opposed to ParaUSA) used to call their "law enforcement" magazine base kit. I have a few of them in a box somewhere in the dungeon. The kit replaced the standard Para slide-on base with a deeper base that allowed one or two rounds extra rounds (sorry, don't remember how many) to push the spring and follower beyond the end of the steel mag tube.

Para 10-round mags used a different tube entirely. The steel tube for the ten-rounders was the same, whether it was for a P10, P12, P13 or P14. The tube held ten rounds, and from there down the length was made up by a polymer extension that was sized to fit the gun.

This one happens to be a Mec-Gar, but the Paras were similar:

This Dawson extended base seems to be similar to the old Para law enforcement base:

My eyes may of deceived me, but it looked like a Huntsville, AL roll mark on the slide of the R1. ???
