SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - California's Supreme Court has agreed to review a
lower court decision which, for the first time in U.S. history, would have allowed
gun makers to be held responsible for crimes committed with their firearms.
---
On the other hand - Washington DC is joining the city gun suits.
In a decision which sets the stage for a new legal struggle over gun liability, the
court decided 6-1 to set aside a state appeals court ruling which allowed victims of
a San Francisco massacre to sue Miami-based Navegar Inc., which made the
TEC-9-type guns used to kill eight people and wound six others in the 1993
rampage.
``We're really quite pleased that the Supreme Court agreed to take the case,'' Tanya
Acker, an attorney representing Navegar, said Thursday.
