"Escape From Sobibor" Good flick. Not shown much. True story. The Jews take the Nazis' guns and kill em and ESCAPE.
Probably not too popular as it shows what SHOULD have happened at EVERY camp.
 
Believe it or not I was shown this movie in a high school history class. (cool teacher).

I enjoyed it, though you are right you don't see it on tv very often.
 
Never heard of it.

Will add that to my list of movies I want to see but can never find...
Right after "BULLET IN THE HEAD".

A major "must see" is Gallipoli which came out in 1981. My history professor in college showed us the film one evening and we were glued to the screen...

Famous WWI battle in Turkey that follows the trials and tribulations of British and Australian soldiers.

Mel Gibson is still an absolute kid in this movie!

"Escape from Sobibor" comes on the History Channel every once in a long while. There were also Russian POWs in that camp. Rutger Hauer kicks some Nazi butt in this one. Okay for a made for tv movie.

It's been on a couple of Direct TV Sat. channels this week. Alan Arkin is also in it. Really good flick!

Sobibor is a good movie. They've shown it about 3 times on History Channel in the last few years.

One thing I like about HC is that they'll talk about the movie at the beginning, end, and maybe in the middle. They'll discuss how realistic it is, and they'll give context to the movie.
 
We were shown "Escape" in college. History 254, History of the Holocaust. Pretty decent movie. Worth checking out, since they don't teach history anymore.

Another movie well worth viewing is Milius' "The Wind and the Lion." Brian Keith as TR. All good fun. You even get to see Candace Bergen stand up for herself. At that point you realize its all fiction, of course, but a fun movie.
 
Have a copy of "escape From Sobibor". Heard about it here on TFL about a month after I found TFL! Found a copy abt 6-8 weeks ago in a supermarket cheapie long-play (very little actual tape) assortment. It is a GREAT movie! If I can find a way, I'll have copies made for other TFL-ers.

Whats' the name of the one about the British soldiers in the Boer war being tried and executed for murder? That guy that starred in the "Equalizer" TV show had the lead in it along with Bryon Brown.
