I was the proud owner of a cabelas gun safe, you know the ones that weigh a ton. i figured the weight alone would be enough to be almost impossible to steal. i had it on the main level of my house, came home from vacation one day and someone had robbed the whole safe. didnt even bother cracking it open, just took the whole damn thing. next time i will be putting the safe in my basement anchored to the concrete. thank god i did not have any of my firearms in it yet.

What did you have in it? I have always thought about keeping an old safe filled with bricks to weigh it down even more and leave it where someone (if they broke in) would find it right away. That would just be great.

my safe was more of my bank at the time, i had $2000 in and a couple boxes of ammo. i guess thats why they have holes in safes to bolt to your floor
