Good gun? Bad gun?

I'm considering buying one of the navy arms schofields in a 45 colt, need some opinions from you folks on TFL as to the durability and and accuracy of these revolvers. It would be a gun that I would want to shoot alot.

More questions-

Can Navy Arms revolvers stand up to modern loads, or are they more suited to lighter cowboy-style loads?

You should probrably stick to lighter loads in them. They are well made guns, I have shot one and it was beautiful. A little heavy, but I like that. However with the top break desighn, any stiff loads will probrably weaken and loosen it.

I have never heard of a Schofield revolver being chambered for .45 Colt. Just where did you see this? A Schofield revolver would be chambered for .45 Schofield, which can be used in a .45 Colt chambered gun.

Blades,

the "reproduction" Schofields aren't true reproductions. The frame is long enough to be able to handle .45 Long Colt.

Right, Cowboy only. You shouldn't even use stuff like Winchester Silvertips...the "Ruger only" .45LC+P monsters will probably blow one sky-high.

This is why I discounted them as a concept for a carry SA, despite the fact that you can probably find speedloaders for 'em :).

The new production S&W Schofield is more authentic than the Navy Arms/Uberti gun and is chambered for the .45 Schofield, which is available. It is also a LOT more expensive.
