Does anyone know a good mail-order/online place to
get burris signature rings? Brownell's has them
for $70 (30mm, med, matte, dual dovetail). Just
looking for a better price, thanks...

Howard

Howard: The real price on those rings at Brownell's is $49, but they're not dual dovetail, just standard turn-in, unless I'm reading something wrong.

In order to get the $49 price, open an account with Brownell's online, answering the question regarding being in a business that doesn't require an FFL in the affirmative. You'll then be able to view the "trade discount" prices and order your rings at that price.

Thanks for the advice, I'll do it.

One question though, I thought dual dovetails
were turn-ins? What am I missing?

Howard

Howard: Dual dove-tails are turn-ins; however, the description on the rings that you mention say that they're "standard" dovetail, which means a turn-in for the front ring and a dual-horizontal screw (gross windage adjustment) mount on the rear. You have to have dual dovetail mounts to use dual dovetail rings.

Burris inserts are curved to fit inside the Burris "signature" rings. To my knowledge these inserts fit ONLY in the signature line. Burris does, however, make standard rings without inserts. These standard rings are not contoured to accept the inserts. For example the Burris Weaver style rings are called the "ZEE RINGS". If you want inserts you need to get "SIGNATURE ZEE RINGS". Inserts from signature zee rings won't fit the regular zee rings because the inside of the caps and bases are not contoured to accept the extra material of an insert.
