Good day for squirrels

Back in the states for a bit, went to visit my father in Upstate NY. These little guys are going in a pan with some butter and garlic.

Did all the damage in his backyard with a .17 HMR. Not a ton of meat damage if it didn't hit bone. Good times.

Looks good to me. I've never eaten them because if I take a 22lr out comes something I need another gun for. Since I bring a 12 gauge i'm good for all birds but pepper the squirrels a bit hard.

Looks like a litter of pups taking a nap after being fed. LOL

Hope the visit with family is all good. Enjoy.

"...Not a ton of meat damage if..." Very little with a 12 gauge either. It's all about the choke and shot size used.

Copied from #9
Look at using #4 or 5 Shot for passing through a squirrel. Even the length of a Fox.
Just dont hit a #4 or #5 with a tooth. Bad if lead-dentist if steel. The dentists love it.

Just reminds me of that scene from Duck Dynasty when my wife was watching it. Phil was shooting squirrels out of a tree with a city slicker standing by, and the tenderfoot asked, "Is that safe?" Phil said, "For me, yes, for the squirrel, not so much."
