Good compact 45's

I'm in the market looking for a compact or subcompact handgun chambered in 45acp.
I'm only interested in DA/SA pistols, no G30/36, XD's, or 1911s (unless there are double single models I'd be very interested)
Also preferably priced no more than 850/900.

Well you have the hk45c, SIG P220 compact/P245, and and and I am drawing blank.

If you go used there are a fair number of 3rd gen Smiths that meet that requirement CS45 comes to mind.

If you can handle the da trigger pull p250c or sc. Otherwise p320carry, or compact. Comes in 4 sizes. A traditional cc weapons would have to be that p245.
Star(Indian made) has some options too

Can't say I can recommend it just yet. Just bought it & haven't had a chance to get to the range. But it may meet your criteria. Taurus PT945. Supposed to mirror a 1911 commander in dimentions. SA/DA & breaks down just like a PT92 ( which I also just bought at the same time ). There is one for sale on Gunbroker, currently at $280. But there is 5 days left & 9 bids. So it will likely go up.

Here's a pic of mine & the PT92.

Hammer fired, SA/DA trigger in .45acp?

I have a number that work well- Sig p245 (same as present 220 compact), SW 4516, SW 457, SW 4513tsw, Beretta 8045 minicougar, HK-UPS-compact (terrible DA trigger). I bought all mine used for between $450-550. Good luck.

best wishes- oldandslow

Commander or Officers sized 1911

With your budget you can get a really good 1911 in a commanders or officers sized 1911. If it was my choice with that budget I would purchase a Colt Defender or a Springfield Range officer compact.

It was stated (supposedly by J browning) that the 4.25 inch barrel was the only reliable 1911 if it isn't the original full size, I'm not qualified to argue this point but Colt is getting great reviews for their small defender.

I test drove the Springfield XDs a while back and did not like the .45 acp in this model at all. I was carrying the subcompact XD40 at the time and was wanting to switch to the .45. I anticipated to really love the XDs and was surprised that was not the case.

I suggest finding a range that has rentals and try some. You may find what works best for you that way.

Good luck with your decision.

Edit: After re-reading your post I see you DIS-qualified the XDs and 1911s as you weren't interested in Single action. Np lead feel free to disregard my opinion in this matter.

I will jump on the S&W 3rd gen bandwagon as well. Several to choose from, probably a TSW Variant in their as well. Nicer than the sig for less $$$.

Although I have never owned either, from cruising the internet and reading a lot I'll add my $0.02 for the S&W's CS45 Chief's Special and its plainer cousin the Model 457 to your research list. I read only Good Things about these.
