Good buy on bullets . . . but . . .

So, I think zombie bullets are just silly. But was at Cabela's in northern Indiana and they had 500 55gn z-max in 223 for only $55. That's only 11 cents a bullet. I usually pay 20 cents or better. So . . . zombies beware!!!

I know the whole Z-max thing is a fad and all but they aren't bad bullets. If I remember right, I think the rifle ones are A-Max bullets.

They are all getting some age on them by now. I heard Hornady discontinued them a few years back. What we're probably seeing now are the retailers clearing the shelves. I bought some 168gr 308 Z-max ammunition, very accurate stuff. I am pretty sure the 168gr 30 cals were a-max bullets, no v-max in that size. The smaller stuff (.224 & 6mm) I'm pretty sure were v-max.

Yep! Smaller stuff is V-Max. I ordered some Z-Max a couple years ago when they were on sale at $48 per 500 of 40g Z-Max. They shoot great!

I have bought mass quantities of bullets in the past.
223 bullets were a good idea. Many rodents died. Many rifles were test fired.

The.458" JSP 350 gr bullets.... yet to shoot the first bullet, 12 years later. Not a good idea. It seems that my 45/70 likes cast bullets.

Hornady's marketing types got left alone without supervision for too long. A-Maxes they ain't. V-Max. No 55 grainers listed by Hornady though.

When we stopped at Hornady last year they mentioned the Zmax bullets and how it was somewhat a joke during a meeting. They decided to go ahead and produce some, and after they started they couldn't keep up with demand. Good for them.
