Good & bad news on my next gun purchase.

Well, I've finally saved up the couple bucks for a G3 clone rifle. After much research, I ultimately decided on Century's Cetme for it's reliability and SS receiver (not to mention - $389 vs $500 for an HK91 knock-off).

I was up in Northern Virginia working for a couple days, so I stopped by Gilbert's to handle an HK91 just to make sure I was making the right decision.

I'm glad, and sad, I did that. I'm a lefty and that cocking handle was ridiculously out-of-reach.

So now I'm stuck. I know this money will burn it's way through my pocket by the time I decide on my next gun purchase.

Maybe y'all can help me decide what to get next.

I'm not a hunter. I'm mostly into assault rifles (got a Win Mdl 94 30-30 2 months ago that haven't even shot yet!). I've got:
  • AR-15
  • AK-47
  • SVD knock-off
  • L1A1
  • M1 Carbine
  • Rem 870 outfitted riot-style
  • Win Mdl 94 30-30

Wadaya think? I just want a fun gun for target shootin and dreaming that I'm friggin Rambo or somethin (hey - ya know, let's be truthful ;) ).

Funds dictate that most of my purchases are made when I get about $500 saved up. By then, a gunshow rolls around and I have to buy compulsively.

Gimme some ideas. Think "fun" & "Rambo wannabe".

Thanks.

Had an M1. Although accurate, not too much fun.

Can M1A's be had in the $500-700 range? My stepfather had a true M14, and that thing was a blast!!

Think AK-74. 100m more range than the ak-47. More accurate. Lighter ammo. Cheaper mags. Recoils like a .22. Plus you can shoot the round the afghanis called the 'magic bullet'.

Can be had in the form of a SAR-2 ($259 from aim surplus) or a robinson arms vepr II (due in a few weeks, about $500 or so).

Take a sar-2 for $300 (after shipping and FFL). Spend the remainder either ammo - $80 for 750 rds of bernaul 5.45 from dans ammo.

If you have a little more money, add a kobra red dot scope for $130. After that, K-var has a cool black polymer stock set for $85.

Now if ups would just hurry up and deliver my rifle to my ffl......

I think it is about time you get an AK 47 or 74 variant for your collection. SARs are cheap as hell, which under your budget, leaves alot for mags and ammo...

Handle out of reach??

I'm a lefty and I like the location of my HK91 handle. Are you trying to get it with your right or left hand? I can see that it would be very difficult to get with the right hand, but not the left.

Yank, sounds like you're missin' the RAMBO back-up pistol, aka, Mac-10 or an UZI. You've got most of the blaster assault rifles already, time to pick up a street sweeper or a Tec9. 'Cause they're so d*mn worthlessly fun to shoot.

:p :p :p last i knew, first hand, a "rambo" gun would set you back 9-10 grand for a rock island arsenal model.. if you want the real mc coy SACO defense, maremount corp, model will set you back 15 grand and up for a transferable... since you live in a van down by the river, i doubt any sheriff/DA will sign those form4s for you :( :( :(
how bout a barret82, they ought to rock the house, and semi to boot..
like stated, enjoy what you got, use the money to take the wife & kids to an amusement park...

I'd avoid the CETME for the most part. Seems like CETME buyers always want to start accessorizing with HK parts and it's not quite that easy.

Buy a FMP HK receiver and start collecting parts for the buildup. The bare receiver would probably not cost much more than $400, but the project will absorb a lot of your time and money, keeping you from spending more on other things.

If you can wait this long, save your money till Dec1-2nd, and go to the Richmond Showplace show. Dark Sun Surplus should be there. Last weekend, they had SAR-2's (5.45x39) for $299+tax.
