Good article on the single shot

well let's see,H+R/New england, spartan guns/remington,I think browning makes a single shot break action for trap, and TC arms makes single shot barrels for thier encores and G2's,there are quite a few out there these days.

There's a lot of old singles out there. The Winchester 37s may be the best of breed, but the old H&Rs are not far behind and more common. Even the IJs can give good service.

As with ALL old shotguns, made before WWII, a going over by a smith is cheap insurance before firing the first shot.

Just some advice.

If you want to go with a NEF/H&R, consider getting the handi-rifle. If you have the rifle, you can get extra barrels for any caliber you want, including 12G shotgun. If you buy the shotgun, you are limited to the shotgun only.

Check out their site. Marlin owns them both now.

That said, the NEF Pardner 12G sells at Wal-mart for under $100. The rifles run almost $200. But if it's worth it to you to have different barrels, it's a good price. Most stock barrels are under $110. They will also custom chamber a barrel to your wildcat cartridge.

Still got my old single 12 gauge from when I was 16 (1960), shot it awhile back with some lite target loads! good grief did that hurt and I use to shoot that old thing with my dads pumped up reloads?
