Good aftermarket grips for Ruger Mark II

I have had my bull-barrel Mark II for years, and it has performed flawlessly. The only thing I want to change is the grip. I don't know what's out there, so some advice would be appreciated.

What types of grips are available and where can I find them.

Thanks for the help.

you might consider grips from W.C.Letts co.. They make aftermarket grips for rugers. i have a set of their rosewoods grips on my mkII and they have served me well for years.you also might check the dillon blue press catalog. they are listing herretts walnut grips which might suit your needs. good luck.

Have the rubber Hogues on mine. Wrap around with plastic inserts for rigidity. Finger grooves in the front and a thumb rest. Felt wierd at first but very confortable as compared to the stock plastic grips. The grooves are only one size, though, so if you have smallish hands, they might be a little too far apart.

I can't seem to get the hogue catalof to doanload, and the website has no pictures for the Mark II. I did order a paper catalog.

I think I am interested in target grips.

(this is obviously not a carry gun)

Thanks.

I've got the factory, smooth wood thumbrest grips on my 4" bull barrel MK II. Makes for a beautiful little gun. I like the thumbrest grips because they (fairly closely) approximate the high-thumb grip I hold on a 1911, the guns I shoot the most.

I've also had Hogue wraparound finger-grooved rubber grips, those were nice too.

I've had several pair of Lett's grips, and for aftermarket Ruger grips, I don't think you can beat them. I think I may just wander over there now, myself ...

For target grips, the Volquartsen model looks quite nice and I've been tempted to try a set, but haven't yet. Sold through Dillon and Brownell's catalogs and web sites.

On my MK II I have Hogue rubber grips also have the left hand in Rosewood laminate finish. Hogue has a great selection of grips At very low prices. Order there Catalog and price manual.

Go with the Volquartsen grips. They fit really nice. The only thing is the added weight, but it isn't excessive. I've had a lot of folks try my Slabside and they really like the grip. Good luck.

I have the slab side 6 7/8" barrel with Hogue grips installed.

I decided to take off the factory thumbrest grips so I could use the pistol to practice weak hand shooting and so that shooting the Ruger would be more similar to shooting my self-defense pistols.

Thanks for all the links. So far the Volquartsen looked great, and I've got a Hogue catalog on the way. I will be checking out the other sites in more detail.

Anyone have anything good or bad to say about the Volquartsen grips, or their trigger package?

Thanks for all the help. I appreciate it.
